Meet Sue Colbeck, NHS LPP Deputy Managing Director
Having recently started as the NHS LPP Deputy Managing Director, we sat down with Sue Colbeck to discuss her future plans.
Sue Colbeck is newly appointed to the role of Deputy Managing Director at NHS London Procurement Partnership (NHS LPP). Sue joins the team from NHS Supply Chain where, as a Director at Akeso & Company (Category Tower Provider for Tower 8) she was integral to supporting the mobilisation of the Tower. Having recently started her new role as the NHS LPP Deputy Managing Director at NHS LPP we sat down with Sue to discuss her plans.
What will the Deputy Managing Director bring to NHS LPP bring?
I will be leading NHS LPP on its new strategic direction, understanding how we can achieve tangible outcomes that link to our overall strategy and align with; industry, customer priorities and trade associations. Having worked at a trust level for a number of years I understand the challenges faced locally and will be able to bring my experience and knowledge of being a customer to the role. I’m extremely passionate about aligning our offer and services at NHS LPP to show real value and benefit to our members, patients and the NHS.
How will you embed the new structure, designing new ways of working?
Our category strategies are the foundation block of what NHS LPP delivers. To support our categories, I’ll be sitting down with each category lead to co-design how we will all work together, not only to achieve our team goals but also our overall goals as NHS LPP. I personally think it’s extremely important to bring this all back to our sole purpose ‘supporting the NHS’. I really look forward to demonstrating how smart procurement practices are an important element for both patients and aligning with the NHS long term plan.
How do you plan to understand your customers and work collaboratively?
I’ll be working closely with the NHS LPP customer team on understanding our customers and mapping their relationship and needs. My impact will be from key networks and aligning with them at both a local and national level.
With the new vision for NHS LPP underway, what are you most looking forward to?
NHS LPP is going through a massive transformation, so I’m looking forward to supporting getting everyone on-boarded, recruiting vacant posts and aligning each team to work at their optimum to deliver their goals. My next step is to support the delivery of robust category strategies, which I’ll be doing in conjunction with the Category Directors, scoping out the current and future landscape and determining the key drivers.
What NHS value do you identify with and why?
I identify with all our values as they are all interdependent of each other. However, if I had to pick, it would be ‘putting the patient first’. This is because everything we do here at NHS LPP will impact on a patient, we need to live and breathe this to really know our value and personalise our service.

An analytical tool to help NHS organisations plan their staffing developed by NHS LPP has been recognised with a win in the prestigious Go Awards and a highly commended at the Healthcare People Management Association (HPMA) Awards.
